Are you spending your Saturday morning running around like a crazy person, markets, yoga class, cleaning the house, going shopping, visiting peeps…? You need this! Until the world sees the light and we all get three day weekends, we just have to deal with the fact that Saturdays are the only day we get to actually go out and get stuff done, ‘cos most of us are slaves to work during the week, and Sundays are too special to be queuing up for groceries!
But instead of keeping a stash of lollies in the car while you’re out running errands, try this super energy smoothie for breakfast.
Yesterday I wrote a post about the power of breath and mindful eating which is so important when you are stressed and on the go. The faster you go, the slower you need to eat or drink your food! You can use breath to calm yourself and draw vital energy back to your centre to digest your food, and then mindfully drink your smoothie rather than gulp it down in one go. Your tummy will thank you for it.
Here are a few of the superpowers you’ll find inside this smoothie:
A natural remedy for digestive ailments, such as gas, indigestion and nausea. It is also antiseptic, making it useful for gastrointestinal infections. Ginger stimulates the circulation, and is warming and soothing for coughs and colds. A powerful anti-inflammatory.
Mangoes are rich in phytochemicals, especially in carotenoids, which protect against cancer formation. They are anti-inflammatory, high in digestive enzymes, and can help protect against infections. They are an excellent source of vitamin A, B-6, C and E, potassium and magnesium.
Raspberries are low calorie and high in fibre, making them excellent for weight management and for digestive health. They are rich in flavonoids, notably ellagic acid, making them powerfully anticancer. Raspberries are also a great source of B vitamins.
Is a lovely mild tasting green. Low in calories, it is nutrient dense, and a rich source of vitamins C and K, and folic acid. Also high in minerals, making it highly alkalising to the body. It has more iron than most other greens. Powerfully anticancer.
Cashews are lower in fat and higher in protein that most other nuts. They contain healthful monounsaturated fats, protecting against cancer and promoting heart health. Can help to lower triglycerides (a type of fat in your blood). A good source of minerals.

The Running Man
½ cup frozen raspberries
½ cup frozen mango
½ cup + 2 tablespoons of freshly squeezed orange juice
¼ inch ginger, peeled and minced
2 ice cubes
1 cup spinach
½ cup frozen mango
1 teaspoon cashew butter
½ teaspoon honey (or add a date)
Pinch of flaky sea salt
½ cup water
- Blend the first five ingredients till smooth
- Pour into a tall glass
- Blend the last 6 ingredients till smooth
- Carefully pour over the pink layer in your glass
- Mindfully enjoy it, so your stressed body can absorb all the beneficial nutrients and you can go on to have a super powered day!
