Organic Maca
From the beautiful, pristine Junín valley of Peru comes one of the
most exciting superfoods yet discovered. Essential Living Foods Raw
Organic Maca is a pure, delicious form of the legendary adaptogenic herb
that, amazingly enough, grows between 13,000 and 14,500 feet above sea
level.
Maca has exploded in popularity in recent years for a variety of reasons. Some say it’s because of Maca’s potent nutritional content—with excellent amounts of protein, amino acids, fatty acids, plant sterols, antioxidants and more. Others feel that it’s one of the very best foods for increasing strength and endurance—which is how it was originally used in the days of the ancient Incas. And yet another group will point to the fact that Maca is an incredibly powerful aphrodisiac, one that most people feel within hours of taking it.
Whatever benefits most interests you; you’ve come to the right place. Essential Living Foods has a phenomenal track record in importing and wholesaling quality, organic Maca. We’ve sold this product to large, highly-respected supplement companies as well as multi-million dollar online retailers. Not a single client has ever been dissatisfied.
How It Is Created
First, the fresh Maca roots are carefully harvested at the peak of
ripeness for maximum nutrition. Next, they are selected and graded. The
prime roots are then collected and taken to a facility where the soil is
washed off. After that, the whole roots are dried in a root cellar for
approximately 30 days. Upon completion, the roots are then ground into a
fine powder, sifted and packaged. No heat is ever used.
Few people know that root vegetables (like Maca) can pick up heavy metals from the soil if not rotated properly; which is why our partners carefully and systematically rotate the Maca fields, avoiding this issue entirely. Essential Living Foods’s partner is the only grower we know who’s doing this.

Essential Living Foods provides maca as a dried powder, roasted granulated powder, and atomized extract powder.
Pharmacological Information
Fertilising effect and actions on the reproductive system: The clinical study carried out by Gonzales from Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia (2001) demonstrates an 85% increase in the men’s total sperm count, as well as an increase in sperm motility and motile sperms quantity (over 100%) in men treated with Maca. This study has also proved that Maca treatment does not alter hormonal levels.

Effect on the sexual activity: The study performed by Zheng at
Shenyang Medical College et al (2000) demonstrated an improvement of
mice sexual function measured by the increase in number of complete
intromissions of normal mice (4 times higher than the control group),
increase in number of sperm-positive females (2.5 times higher than the
control group) and the decrease of the latent period of erection (LPE)
in rats with erectile dysfunction. The study conducted by Cicero et al
from the University of Modena (2001) confirmed similar effects.
Other studies also confirmed Macas’ effects with respect to the sexual
activity, such as the increase of the rut occurrence in ovine
livestock.
Anti-stress effect: The study performed by Tapia at Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia (1998) demonstrates a greater resistance against stress development induced by electric discharges in mice as well as better ability reducing stress in animals fed with portions of Maca.

Athletic performance: Maca provides 5 times more proteins and 4 times more fibre than the potato, having less fat. It has an excellent 0.76 ratio of saturated to unsaturated fat (40.1% saturated fats, 52.7% unsaturated fat). Maca contains two of three essential fatty acids (oleic and linoleic). It also has a surprising amino acids profile, a total of 18 amino acids, including 7 of the 9 essential amino acids. Maca also contains high levels of natural sterols that boost athletic performance and stamina.
Growth: Rainbow trout fed maca diets have exhibited significantly higher growth rate than the other groups not fed maca. Survival was significantly higher in groups fed maca meal diets than in the control. The findings indicated that maca meal increased fish appetite, enhanced growth rate, feed utilization and survival.
Nutritional Benefits

Organic Mesquite Powder
Mesquite, or Algorroba as it is known in South America, is a leguminous plant found in South America that was spread to arid zones around the world, including the southwestern U.S. Algorroba trees growing wild in desert areas of northern Peru are extremely well adapted to adverse weather and soil conditions. This particular characteristic makes them a suitable plant to fight desertification, and the extension of its cultivation is recommended to stop desertification in semiarid regions and to promote development of drylands.
Indigenous populations in the Americas have long used the seed pods of Prosopis as a dietary product. The pods have traditionally been dried and ground into flours or processed into a sweetener, sweet beverage, or fermented into an alcoholic beverage.
Essential Living Foods sources high quality algorroba powder that makes a delicious and unique ingredient in many items including:
- Bread, biscuits and dietetic foods; these products have excellent acceptance by consumers in Peru
- A soluble powder and a coffee substitute have also been produced. Algorroba has a unique dark, nutty flavor that may blend well in teas and coffee substitutes in the U.S.
- Dietary fiber with high or low sugar content can be produced, both with high levels of protein
Essential Living Foods provides mesquite as a dehydrated whole food powder.

Essential Living Foods Peruvian Mesquite Meal
Wildcrafted Organic Peruvian Mesquite Powder comes from a beautiful, untouched forest region in central Peru. It has quickly become one of the most popular “functional foods” in the health food industry, due to its great taste and robust nutritional profile. The Organic Peruvian Mesquite harvest and processing is carefully overseen by Essential Living Foods’s longtime partner, Stephan Bederski, who skillfully manages an award-winning certified organic farm in the Topara valley of Peru.
To produce this healthy whole food meal, ripe Mesquite pods are hand-picked from the tree by members of the local indigenous communities. They are then rinsed thoroughly and naturally shade dried. A special grinder is used to crush and pulverize both the pod and the seeds of the mesquite into an ultra-fine flour.
How You Can Help Support Local Ecosystems
Mesquite grows throughout the semi-arid regions of the world (which make up 25% of the earth's land mass). Harvesting mesquite bean pods for food promotes economic independence for native communities in these desert regions of Peru and promotes conservation of natural resources. Unfortunately, countries throughout the world are cutting down forests to clear the land for cattle pasture. Over the last fifty years, tens of thousands of acres of mesquite have been (and are still being) bulldozed to the ground and then burned.
But by supporting mesquite as an important everyday food source, you help to put a stop to this aggressive deforestation. Finally, Essential Living Foods Peruvian Mesquite Meal is one of only two Certified Organic Mesquite products available on the market (the only other one is Essential Living Foods Peruvian Mesquite Meal). It is 100% naturally grown and processed from beginning to end—it’s gathered in remote forest areas where no chemicals of any kind have ever been used.
Nutritional Benefits
- Mesquite meal is an easy-to-digest source of carbohydrates—with a sweet, starchy flavor.
- Because the carbohydrates are complex, they have a lower glycemic than most fruit sugars.
- Some Native American groups, such as Tohono O'odham peoples in Arizona, use Mesquite as an alternative sweetener and flavoring agent for those with blood sugar challenges.
- Ultimately, Mesquite is a better source of protein than most vegan foods, weighing in at around 17% of the total weight. That’s higher than nearly every grain and many nuts or seeds.
Purple Corn
Believe it or not, the very first and most ancient form of corn to
exist on the planet was—purple. Purple Corn has only recently entered
the US market and is quickly gaining a reputation as a highly exotic,
healthy grain. Essential Living Foods’s Organic Kculli Purple Corn (as
the ancient variety is called) is grown on the nationally-renowned
Topara farm in Peru. It is the only place in the world that this
original form of corn is grown organically.
There are different varieties of Purple Corn, and all of them
originated from an ancestral line called “Kculli”, still cultivated in
Peru. The Kculli line is very old, and ancient objects in the shape of
these particular ears of corn have been found in archeological sites
at least 2,500 years old in places in the central coast, as well as
among the ceramics of the “Mochica” culture.

People of the Andes make a refreshing drink from purple corn called "chicha morada" which is now recognized as a nutritive powerhouse due to its phenolic content. Anthocyaninins encourage connective tissue regeneration and are anti-inflammatory. They promote blood flow and reduce cholesterol, in addition to being antioxidants. Anthocyaninins seem to stabilize and protect capillaries from oxidative damage and have been shown to stabilize connective tissue, promote collagen formation, improve microcirculation and help protect blood vessels from oxidative damage.
Purple Corn has higher antioxidant capacity and antiradical kinetics than blueberries and higher or similar anthocyanin and phenolic contents.
Essential Living Foods provides Organic Purple Corn as a whole cob pieces, kernels, ground food powder and an atmomized Organic Purple Kculli Corn ExtractTM powder with 6% anthocyaninin concentration.
Pharmacological Information
The results of several epidemiologic studies indicate that regular consumption of foods rich in polyphenolic compounds is associated with reduced risk of developing cardiovascular disease and certain cancers. Recent experimental studies in both animals and humans have shown that increasing polyphenol intake can protect LDL cholesterol from becoming oxidized (a key step in developing atherosclerosis), lower blood pressure in hypertensive subjects, reduce the tendency of the blood to clot and elevate total antioxidant capacity of the blood. After they are swallowed, anthocianins are easily detected in the blood. This was explained by Passamonti & col. (2003) who demonstrated that the stomach participates actively in the absorption of these compounds.
In a pre-clinical study, Tsuda & col. (2003) studied the effects of purple corn on obesity and diabetes. compared two sample groups. They consumed a diet rich in fats during 12 weeks, but one of the groups also received purple corn pigments. Compared with the control group the group consuming anthocyaninins didn’t gain any weight, nor suffered hypertrophy in the adiposites of the fat tissues, didn’t show hyperglycemia, hyperinsulinemia, hyperleptinemia, or increase in levels of the genetic codes that produce the factor or tumoral necrosis or the enzymes related to the synthesis of fatty acids and trilglicerol. In comparison, the group that didn’t receive the extract and ate only a fat rich diet, showed an increase of more than 100% in all those parameters. Thus, there are good nutritional and biochemical reasons to use the anthocianins present in purple corn, with obvious benefits for the prevention of obesity and diabetes.
It is known that the colon and rectum cancer is the second most deadly of all forms of cancer. The one that affects the colon is more frequent in women, and the rectal cancer is more common in men. In Nagoya University, Japan, a group of researchers from the School of Medicine has demonstrated that the pigment in purple corn impedes the development of cancer in the colon. In laboratory experiments, sample groups received food mixed with a natural carcinogenic substance which is found in the charred parts of roasted meat and fish, and another group also received 5% pigment of purple corn. In the group that was fed the cancer causing substance, 85% developed colon cancer, compared with only 40% that also received the pigment.
Disclaimer: These statements have not been evaluated by the FDA and are not intended to be a substitute for professional medical advice, nor is this information meant to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease.
Nutritional Benefits
- Purple Corn has higher antioxidant capacity and free radical fighting ability than even blueberries. Of all grains, it is the highest in antioxidants.
- Purple Corn contains substantial amounts of phenolics and anthocyanins, among other beneficial phytochemicals. Phenolics are known to have many bioactive and functional properties.
- Anthocyaninins are a type of complex flavonoid that produces blue, purple or red colors. And CG3, the anthocyanin found in Purple Corn, is among the most potent antioxidants in existence.
- Ultimately, Purple Corn flour is nutritionally similar to corn flour you’d find in the store, only with more antioxidants.
Brazil Nut Protein Powder
Essential Living Foods’s Brazil Nut Protein Powder is the only
product of its kind available in the world. A nutritional gem from deep
in the heart of the Amazon, it delivers all the incredible benefits of
the Brazil Nut without any added calories from fat.

Because this product is created in conjunction with oil processing, there’s a limited amount available. If you have any interest in using it, we urge you to request a sample right away.
Helping Give Back to the Precious Rainforest
This product is so rare and unique because it depends on Brazil nut
trees, which only grow in select Rainforest locations—pollination of
these trees is so specialized that they’ve never, ever been successfully
grown in plantations. If this precious forest land is lost to cattle
ranching, Brazil nuts won’t be grown anywhere else!
Fortunately, the existence of a highly renewable natural resource – like Brazil nuts, oil and protein – is enough to justify the ongoing existence of such large forested areas. That’s why purchasing them is so positive – as long as the Brazil nut products continue to sell, these forest areas will remain protected. If not, the land will ultimately fall to the pressure of cattle ranching, an unsustainable practice that has permanently destroyed much of the rainforest. But the growth and sale of Brazil Nut Protein Powder helps to counter this distressing trend.
Nutritional Benefits
On a nutritional level, just look at all this amazing powder offers:
- Brazil Nut protein contains 50% protein and provides a full spectrum of amino acids – including vital performance-boosters like methionine, arginine, glutamine and more.
- In Ayurveda, Brazil nuts have been traditionally regarded as the most “building” of all plant foods.
- Not only that – this protein is chock-full of minerals, including hard-to-find ones like selenium, zinc, magnesium, thiamine, phosphorous, copper, iron and more. In fact, Brazil nuts are the highest food source of the anti-cancer mineral selenium -- containing 2,500 TIMES MORE selenium than any other nut.
Wildcrafted Camu Camu
Camu camu is a bush that grows in black water rivers, especially in
those abandoned courses called "cochas," ecosystems of great social and
economic importance for the Amazonian jungle of Peru. The fruit
contains powerful phytochemicals with health benefits, including the
amino acids serine, valine, and leucine, and more Vitamin C than any
other known plant in the world. The camu-camu fruit is approximately 2
centimeters in diameter and has a purplish red skin with a yellow pulp.
Camu camu fruit contains 30 to 60 times more Vitamin C than an orange.
It has astringent, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, emollient and
nutritional properties, and also contains important levels of beta
carotene, calcium, iron, niacin, phosphorus, riboflavin and thiamin.
Essential Living Foods' rare and 100% pure form of Camu Camu comes from a pristine part of the rainforest. It’s quickly becoming one of the most sought-after vitamin C sources in the world. And Essential Living Foods’s Camu Camu powder has an exceptionally rich amount whole, natural vitamin C—without any synthetic vitamin C added.

The camu camu fruit has a surprising range of medicinal effects. In joint studies with IIAP, Sandoval (2000) of Albany University has demonstrated that camu camu flesh has a great antioxidant power, and it inhibits the radical DPPH (1,1-diphenil-2-picrilhydrazil), surpassing that of ascorbic acid and trolox (water soluble analog of vitamin C).
Some of the extraordinary medicinal properties of this Amazon rain forest fruit are described by Gary Null, Ph.D., a nationally known nutritionist and researcher. In discussing the holistic treatment of depression he lists 19 plants containing chemical compounds with antidepressant properties. In order of potency, camu camu is listed second in effectiveness. Some have been able to gradually wean themselves off of their anti-depression prescription medication (such as Zoloft and Prozac) under medical supervision and substitute camu camu powder with no relapse into depression. Although the amount taken varies for different people, some have taken, on an empty stomach, 1/2 teaspoon of camu camu powder in a glass of water four times daily. Others have taken one tsp. either once or twice daily. One alternative health care provider in New York City has had twenty patients on Zoloft and Prozac gradually wean themselves off these medications while taking camu camu and they have succeeded in avoiding depression. Good results have also been noted for patients who are anxious, talkative, and those with panic attacks.
Essential Living Foods provides camu camu as: 100% pure dehydrated powder with 18 - 20% vitamin C
Pharmacological Information
Camu camu has been part of an effective protocol for a 14 year old boy who was hospitalized for 15 months at the age of eight for suicidal depression. This boy also has learning disabilities and Attention Deficit Disorder (A.D.D.). His psychiatrists put him on 40 mg. of Prozac, 100 mg. of Ritalin, as well as Clomadine and Imiprimine, which he remained on for years, keeping him in a barely functional, drugged state. Working with an alternative medical professional, his mother withdrew him gradually from these drugs and began a protocol which included Ginkgo Biloba, high amounts of Vitamin C and B vitamins. In the last few months she has added two teaspoons of camu camu (divided dose on empty stomach with water) and one capsule a day (500 mg.) of maca to his protocol. She reports that since adding these two herbs her son's immune function has improved--he gets sick less often, his mood is better - "it has smoothed him out" - and the combination of these two herbs have increased his ability to focus.
Camu-camu is at the top of Null's list of plants with medicinal effectiveness against the herpes virus. All forms of the herpes virus lie dormant at the base of the spine and become active when the immune system is stressed beyond its ability to respond effectively against pathenogens. Common stressors include emotional upsets, other illnesses, prescription drugs, insufficient rest, poor diet, menstrual periods, vaginal yeast infections, and too much sunlight on the skin. Genital herpes is usually transmitted sexually. The principal anti-viral pharmaceutical medicine is acyclovir, which has unpleasant and even toxic side effects. The herpes virus takes a number of different forms and is widespread today as a public health problem in the United States. More than 50% of the U.S. population gets cold sores, which is the result of the herpes simplex virus 1 (HSV1). The Epstein-Barr virus is a common form of the herpes virus which may linger in the body for years, raising the total viral load which the body must combat. Yet another form of the herpes virus is genital herpes which is caused by the herpes simplex virus 2. In total, more than 80% of the U.S. population suffers from some kind of herpes infection. Null lists 19 plants which contain anti-herpetic phyto-chemicals. Camu camu is listed as the most potent.
In Brazil, camu camu is being promoted as a product that untangles and strengthens hair, and protects it from external damage, adding to its shine and vitality. Camu camu is being used in a new line of cosmetics specially recommended for damaged and dull hair that include shampoos, conditioners, hair masques, hair renewal that add body and shine to hair.

Nutritional Benefits
- The Camu Camu Berry contains powerful phytochemicals, including the amino acids serine, valine, and leucine, and more Vitamin C than any other known plant in the world.
- Specifically, the Camu Camu fruit contains 30 to 60 times more Vitamin C than an orange in its fresh state. And it delivers up to 600 TIMES MORE vitamin C than oranges when it’s dried into the powder form that we offer.
- Not only that, Camu Camu contains important levels of beta carotene, calcium, iron, niacin, phosphorus, riboflavin and thiamin.
The Great Camu Camu Controversy
There are importers, brokers and supplement companies who will claim to have Camu Camu powder with a vitamin C content ranging from 25% all the way up to 50%. Unfortunately, what these companies often fail to mention is that only a portion of the vitamin C is the pure and natural form, the kind that comes directly from the berry. The rest comes from synthetic vitamin C added after processing.
Why would they do such a thing? Simple: It saves them money. Synthetic vitamin C is cheap and allows them to reduce the more expensive berry content. It also allows them to add more inexpensive maltodextrin as filler. While this may be good for their bottom line, it’s anything but good for the health of you and your clients.
In essence, Camu Camu is so amazing because it’s the highest natural source of vitamin C. Being totally natural, it contains all the flavonoids and co-factors necessary for maximum absorption and utilization. If you wanted chemical vitamin C, you could go to any drugstore and get it for almost nothing.
Organic Goji Berry Extract
Essential Living Foods’ Goji Berry Extract is uniquely produced in a
pristine, certified-organic region in the Ninxia province of China.
This is the same amazing place where they hold a festival each year to
celebrate the Goji Berry and its amazing health benefits.
During harvest season in the late summer, the Goji Berries are hand-picked, shaken onto mats, washed, inspected and then sent to the organic extraction facility. Upon delivery the berries are seeded, juiced and then the juice is dried in a proprietary low-temp process that results in a fine powder. Because of the careful selection process and extraction methods, every batch of this product is guaranteed to have at least 20% polysaccharides.

Visit the Source of our Great Gojis!
Nutritional Benefits
- Goji Berry Extract contains 20% polysaccharides, compounds that may help fortify the immune system. A polysaccharide found in this fruit has been found to be a powerful secretagogue (a substance that can stimulate the secretion of rejuvenative human growth hormone by the pituitary gland).
- Goji berries are also one of the richest source of carotenoids, including beta-carotene (more beta carotene than carrots), of all known foods or plants.
- In China, the Goji is believed to increase the “chi” or life energy in those that eat them. In the Ningxia Province, where our Gojis come from, one village of 4,000 residents has six people over the age of 100. Nationally, only six centenarians would be expected in every one million people.
More Unique Advantages
There are a variety
of advantages to using and offering this product. First, you and your
clients/customers get more Goji per dollar than just about any other
form. Have you seen those Goji MLM juice products that sell for $30-40 a
bottle? Some of them use water soluble extracts in their “juice”—and
the extracts are nowhere near as pure or concentrated as Essential
Living Foods Goji Extract.
Organic Lucuma (Powder and Slices)
Lucuma (pronounced Loo – Koo – Mah) is an extremely rare fruit,
grown almost exclusively in pristine regions of South America.
What’s so special about it? First of all, for thousands of years Peruvian culture has been incredibly rich in traditions utilizing fine foods and exotic culinary delights. For that very reason, the Lucuma fruit has been honored both spiritually and socially since ancient times.
From the earliest days of Peruvian history, this fruit has rarely been left out of celebrations and banquet settings. It has a truly unique and fragrant flavor that cannot be duplicated.
In terms of taste and texture, Lucuma has a full-bodied maple-like flavor. The fruit delivers a firm and rich pumpkin-like pulp that is orange and yellow in color.
How Each Product Is Made
Essential Living Foods offers two Organic Lucuma products (Dried Lucuma Powder and Dried Lucuma Slices), and each requires different processing. Both products begin with the harvesting of fresh Lucuma fruits during peak season.
See how our organic Lucuma powder and slices are made:
Next, the seeds are removed and the flesh is removed from the skin. The flesh is then sliced and placed in a low-temperature sun drier. Once the dried lucuma slices reach the optimum moisture level, they are removed from the dryer, placed into bags and tightly sealed. To make the powder, one more step is needed. The dried lucuma slices are placed in a low-temp grinder and processed until the ideal fineness is achieved.
A Solid Nutritional Profile
Lucuma provides complex carbohydrates, vitamins and minerals—including niacin and iron. Its low levels of natural sugars (only 2 grams out of 13 grams of carbohydrate) make it an excellent low-glycemic whole-fruit treat!
Tocotrienol Powder
Few people have heard of the exciting new functional food called
Tocotrienols. But that’s all about to change. Clinical studies,
natural M.D.’s and health enthusiasts have proven that Vitamin E is one
of the most important nutrients in existence. And tocotrienols are one
of the nature’s most concentrated sources of this vital nutrient.
With a mildly sweet flavor and soft texture that melts in your mouth, our Tocotrienol Powder is a great addition to smoothies, chocolates and desserts.
Hi-Tech Processing Guarantees Maximum Potency
The vital nutrients in tocotrienols, especially vitamin E, are extremely sensitive to heat, so our pure Tocotrienol Powder is delicately processed at low temperature to ensure that its nourishing properties reach you. To make this product, brown rice is processed in a highly advanced machine that inactivates the lipase enzyme from the outer part of the rice grain. There’s a specific reason for this: When the lipase enzyme is active, it causes the delicate oils in the rice bran to go rancid. But once inactivated, the bran can be separated and kept stable. The result is a very fine, delicious powder that’s incredibly rich in vitamin E
Nutritional Benefits of Tocotrienols
As mentioned, Tocotrienols are a potent source of vitamin E. Clinical studies on Vitamin E have shown it may aid in the prevention of cardiovascular disease and ailments of the lung, stomach, colon, breast and cervix. It may even improve circulation, prevent blood clot, prolong life of red blood cells, and strengthen capillary walls.
Tocotrienols can also help the body use vitamin A, which maintains integrity of cell membranes and contributes to healthy skin and hair. Both vitamin E and A act as antioxidants, protecting healthy cells from destruction by free radicals.
Not only that, multiple classes of tocotrienols have been discovered. For example, according to a noted expert in the field of Vitamin E research, alpha-tocotrienol is 40-60 TIMES MORE POTENT than alpha-tocopherol. At the present time, there are four versions of tocotrienols. By way of example, delta-tocotrienol is 200 times more potent than alpha-Tocotrienols. Our product contains alpha, beta, gamma, and delta tocotrienols.
