Giving Back

Making a positive impact on the communities from which our amazing food comes from is part of our mission. Our company has built strong connections and partnerships with small farming groups around the world. We are making it our business to give back 1% of our profits directly to those communities we rely on to provide us with the amazing foods we offer. Essential Living Foods is working closely with the help of organizations such as Amazon Watch to establish specific funding programs aimed directly at the needs of each individual community. Our goal is to funnel money back to our partner communities so that educational organic farming programs, farming infrastructure, schools, and homes can grow and improve. Healthy communities help create healthy organic farms which helps to bring you the highest quality superfoods while improving the lives and opportunities of the hard working farming communities we partner with around the globe.

A school in Ecuador

School KidsEssential Living Foods is working with Colinas Verdes, a non-profit in Ecuador, (http://www.colinas.org/index.html) to fund and supply much needed computer equipment to a rural agricultural school in the province of Esmerelda.

Our Ecuadorian partners also supply curriculum support for agricultural schools to ensure that information on organic production is an integral part of the overall agricultural curriculum. This helps to ensure that the next generation in Ecuador will grow up healthier (without all those dangerous chemicals!) and educated about the benefits and methodologies of organic agriculture, so more and more organic and sustainable farming can happen!

Typically, Ecuadorian schools of agriculture, especially those serving the lower income populations, have very limited resources to support their students. That is why we are so proud to be supporters of organic agriculture!

Homes in Peru

homes in PeruEssential Living Foods continues to assist with earthquake relief and reconstruction in the hardest hit rural farming communities of Peru from the August 2007 earthquake (epicenter 4.3 miles off the coast of Chincha Alta, the nearest town to Topara Valley and the home to many of the farmers working with Stefan). Like many post disaster bureaucracies in developing countries money is very slow to reach the most in need. But with some quick action and generous contributions, Essential Living Foods was able to provide some assistance directly to the farming communities within a couple months. These contributions went directly into the hands of the farmers and allowed many families to rebuild homes and improve farming infrastructure that was completely destroyed during the earthquake. Construction continues and families lives continue to improve. Essential Living Foods will carry on our assistance not only through direct contributions but through our 1% of sales donation program to assure that the Topara Valley, the farms, and the communities will be stronger, and healthier than ever.
